President’s Initiative for Mission Integration

On July 15, 2010, President Marie Angelella George, Ph.D. marked the 160th birthday of St. Frances X. Cabrini by announcing a two-year initiative for Mission Integration.

The President’s Initiative for Mission Integration is intended to promote dialogue, reflection, learning and action within the framework of the Catholic intellectual tradition, Catholic social teachings, and the Cabrinian legacy and charism. Through the work of a steering committee the initiative will foster opportunities to deepen our understanding of our Catholic, Cabrinian identity as a College community, to share our individual and collective contributions toward realizing our Mission, and to generate proposals for action that will advance our vision for Cabrini College.   The initiative comes on the heels of the development of the College’s revised Mission Statement and the new Justice Matters core curriculum.

Some of the developments of the Steering Committee:

  • Proposed a Mission and Identity Scan to take the pulse of the community. The scan will enable us to identify the integration of Mission with our policies, management practices and contractual relationships.
  • Proposed the utilization of the Justice Matters virtual space for the work of the initiative.  Justice Matters is a collaborative, communal space to exchange ideas and resources.  The Justice Matters virtual space is a proprietary  space built on the Blackboard Vista course management platform that enables faculty and staff to view articles, listen to podcasts, watch video, and participate in conversations.
  • Proposed utilizing different tracks—dialog, learn, pray & reflect, act—to guide programming.  The tracks will guide us as we develop programming to integrate Mission as we walk the themes of social justice.
