What is the difference between seeking justice through charity and seeking justice through social change?

This is an essential question that our junior students ask in their Engagements with the Common Good (ECG) 300 course:  Working for Global Justice.  Working for Global Justice is the third course of the four year, four course sequence of our curriculum, Justice Matters.  Justice Matters leads our third year students to:

  • reflect on their individual beliefs and personal interests, political realities, and the common good in local and global communities.
  • demonstrate a sustained commitment to the practice of social justice through community-driven projects designed to create social change.
  • critique their personal philosophy of social justice grounded in dignity, equality, and solidarity.
