Hurricane Sandy

The tremendous hurricane named Sandy may have spared our campus, but it was less kind to some of the MSC communities in New York City.  The MSCs who reside in the Gramercy Park section of New York at E. 19th St. are without power and the elevators are out in the building.  Sr. Arlene said that they are not likely to get power for 3-4 days.  Several of the Sisters have moved temporarily to Dobbs Ferry.  The Senior Sisters at Sacred Heart Convent on the lower East Side of Manhattan are faring better.  The Convent has a generator and so they have light, heat, refrigeration, and food.   Mother Cabrini High School in Washington Heights announced that it would be closed until Monday November 5th.  The statement reads, “In consideration of continued power and transportation issues throughout the NYC Metropolitan area, and continuing to place the safety of students, faculty & staff as a paramount importance, MCHS will be closed until Monday, Nov 5th.”  Please pray for all in the Cabrini Community as they endure the effects of the hurricane.
