Pope Benedict XVI announced a Year of Faith beginning October 11, 2012 and ending November 24, 2013. The Year of Faith is meant to strengthen the faith of Catholics and to draw the world to faith by their example. Catholics are encouraged to study the lives of the saints in order to follow their example. In conjunction with Pope Benedict’s announcement, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has offered “10 American Saints for the Year of Faith” to help Catholics learn about the saints and to appreciate the history of the Catholic faith in America. St. Frances X. Cabrini is #2 on the list following martyr, St. Isaac Jogues. You can read about Mother Cabrini and learn who are the other eight Saints on the USCCB website.
