The Curriculum in the Early Years: Department Objectives

In the College’s early years, the academic departments used the course catalog as the vehicle for communicating their department objectives.  In the 1967-1968 catalog, the Fine Arts department lists its objectives, “To enrich the cultural life of the students and enable them to see a manifestation of the beauty of God in the beauty of nature and art.”    The Philosophy department states its objectives, “To develop a philosophical habit of searching for ultimate causality of reality in general and man in particular so that each may direct his life according to right reason and the rationality of Faith.”  As this practice continues to the present day, one can use the latest catalog to see the current department objectives.
