Together on the Journey

Cabrini College President, Dr. Marie Angelella George and Ms. Joan Neal, Vice President for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness,  participated in the 2011 Cabrini Leadership Conference.  Held  in Golden, Colorado, April 10-12,  the conference focused on immigration.  Reverend Monsignor Hugh Shields, Vicar for Hispanic Ministry, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, PA, opened the conference with a reminder that, “There are 18 inches between you and heaven–the distance between your head and your heart. You must take your faith in God from your head to your heart. We listen with our heads, but we must respond with our hearts.” The conference culminated with a trip to the Mother Cabrini Shrine.  Many followed in Mother Cabrini’s footsteps by climbing the Stairway of Prayer to the top of the “Mount of the Sacred Heart.” The beautiful view and the conference provided an inspiring experience.

Cabrini Leaders made it to the top of the mountain at Mother Cabrini Shrine where they were able to see the Sacred Heart statue and the stone heart created by Mother Cabrini. Jeff Lewis, Shrine Administrator (back row, l.) offered commentary about the views of Denver and Cabrinian history.
